Halloween, or All Saints’ Day, has ancient roots. Its history is connected with ancient pagan and Christian traditions. In pre-Christian times, the ancient Celts celebrated Samhain at the end of October, believing that the boundary between the world of the living and the spirit world became thinner and the spirits of the dead could return.
Halloween is becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine, especially among young people and children. This American holiday began to make its way into Ukrainian society actively in recent decades, and many people now celebrate it. This is mainly connected with the desire to celebrate diverse cultural holidays and have fun.
In Ukraine, as in other countries, Halloween is often associated with wearing costumes, decorating homes and gardens with pumpkins, and going trick-or-treating. Halloween parties, costume contests, and many other entertainment events are also organized in some places.
However, it is worth noting that Halloween does not have as deep a historical foundation in Ukraine as, for example, Easter or Christmas. Some people may view Halloween skeptically because it is not a traditional Ukrainian holiday.
